All About DHT

DHT Dihysdrotestosterone 3D Model

DHT, or Dihydrotestosterone, is an androgenic hormone that’s derived from Testosterone. DHT is naturally synthesized from Testosterone in your body by the 5a-reductase enzyme.

DHT is up to 30 times stronger than Testosterone, and plays a lead role in the development of secondary male sex characteristics, such as body and facial hair growth, deepening of the voice, libido and genital growth.

An important characteristic of DHT is that is cannot be converted to Estrogen. This makes topical DHT cream ideal for the treatment of Gynecomastia and Andropause because it blocks against Estrogen and helps restore balance to the Testosterone to Estrogen ratio. In contrast, other topical testosterone gels like Androgel or Testogel are susceptible to aromatisation (conversion to Estrogen), aggravating Gynecomastia and Andropause symptoms.

DHT is also sometimes referred to as Androstanolone or just Stanolone. DHT gel has been available in France, Belgium and other European countries for years under the brand name of Andractim, developed by Laboratoires Besins-Iscovesco of France.
